Hypnotherapy is not “stage” hypnosis. You are an active participant in the process and will not do anything you don’t want to do. It is recommended to see a trained licensed therapist like Dr. K that knows how to treat underlying issues that could come up during the hypnosis process and can help guide you.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a deepened state of focused attention while hypnotherapy is the therapeutic modality that utilizes the state of hypnosis. Many describe hypnosis as a feeling similar to daydreaming where they are neither fully alert nor asleep.
Hypnosis is a trance like state that often includes a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation and concentration. Hypnotherapy induces the state of hypnosis with the use of positive suggestions to facilitate change and access the subconscious.
Hypnotherapy can be used to help people cope better and gain control over undesired behaviors. You are in complete control the entire time and it helps the unconscious be more open to change.
Hypnosis has been compared to deep relaxation, feeling like you just got a relaxing massage or as if you just had a good night's sleep.
